Welcome!
Since the end of the 20th century, China has become the world's largest producer of antimony and its compounds, most of which are produced in the tin mines in Lengshuijiang City, Hunan Province. The industrial method of antimony production is roasting first, then reducing with carbon at high temperature, or reducing stibnite directly with metallic iron.
Antimony mainly exists in the sulfide mineral stibnite (Sb2S3) in nature. Antimony compounds are known to have been used as cosmetics in ancient times. Antimony metal is also recorded in ancient times, but it was mistaken for lead at that time. Around the 17th century, it was known that antimony was a chemical element.
