Ordinary V-belts use the reference width system, while narrow V-belts have two size series due to different size systems. When designing calculations, the basic principles and calculation formulas are the same. There are differences in size. Due to the fact that the material used in V-belt transmission is not completely elastic, the belt will elongate and relax after working for a period of time, resulting in a decrease in tension. Therefore, the V-belt drive should be equipped with a tensioning device to maintain normal operation.
V-belt transmission relies on the frictional force generated by the compression between the two sides of the V-belt and the side of the wheel groove for power transmission. Compared with flat belt transmission, V-belt transmission has higher friction and can therefore transmit greater power. The V-belt has a more compact structure than a flat belt, and it is a seamless transmission belt, so the transmission is smoother, making it the most widely used type of belt transmission.
