When using, first release the locking pin to open the ratchet. The release pawl, also known as the release lever, is a smaller handle that releases the ratchet handle. It is located in the center of the movable part at the top of the ratchet wheel. Pull up the release latch and fully open the ratchet. Place the open ratchet on the table in front of you with the spiked wheel (gear) facing up.

Turn the ratchet until it feels secure. Pull the ratchet back and forth to pull the length of the belt and tighten it. Once the tension is felt and fixed around the cargo, stop the ratchet. Pull the belt and check that it is loose – it should feel tight and secure.

Be careful not to over tighten. Excessive pressure may damage the ratchet belt or goods.

If you can't put a finger between the tape and the object, you may be overstretched. Loosen the belt and close it again with the ratchet.
