Welcome!
In cutting, tool performance has a decisive impact on the efficiency, accuracy, and surface quality of cutting. There is always a contradiction between the two key indicators of cemented carbide tool performance - hardness and strength. Materials with high hardness have low strength, and improving strength often comes at the expense of reducing hardness. In order to solve this contradiction in cemented carbide materials and better improve the cutting performance of cutting tools, a more effective method is to use various coating techniques to coat one or more layers of materials with high hardness and high wear resistance on the cemented carbide substrate. The coating on the surface of cemented carbide tools acts as a chemical and thermal barrier, reducing the wear of crescent pits on cemented carbide tools, significantly improving machining efficiency, improving machining accuracy, extending tool life, and reducing machining costs.
Depending on the type of coating used, there are different designations, such as the primer layer being called the primer layer, and the topcoat layer being called the topcoat layer. Generally, the coating obtained from coatings is relatively thin, ranging from about 20 to 50 microns, while thick paste coatings can obtain coatings with a thickness of more than 1 mm at a time. It is a thin plastic layer applied to metal, fabric, plastic, and other substrates for protection, insulation, decoration, and other purposes.
