What is a dry cargo container

Ordinary containers, also known as dry containers. Mainly used for shipping miscellaneous items, it is usually used for shipping cultural goods, daily necessities, medicine, textiles, handicrafts, chemical products, hardware and electrical equipment, electronic machinery, instruments and machine parts, etc. Dry cargo containers account for 80% of the total number of containers. Except for frozen goods, live animals, and plants, goods that are suitable for container transportation in terms of size, weight, etc. can all use dry cargo containers.

Characteristics of dry cargo containers

Dry cargo containers usually refer to cargo containers that do not maintain a specific temperature and humidity, such as textiles, mechanical equipment, hardware products, chemical products, etc., and do not require any temperature and humidity control during transportation.

Dry cargo containers are suitable for the consolidation of large quantities of goods, with a wide range of applications, no need for high technology and systems, and low cost

Dry cargo container size

There are three commonly used sizes and volumes for dry cargo containers:

20 foot container: abbreviated as 20 foot container (20GP)

The external dimensions are 6.1M × 2.44M × 2.59M (20ft × 8ft × 8ft6in);

The content area is 5.69M × 2.13M × 2.18M.

This type of container is usually loaded with heavy cargo, and the gross weight of the cargo is generally not allowed to exceed 17.5 tons. It can accommodate a cargo volume of about 24-26 cubic meters. 20 foot foldable platform cargo box: internal dimensions 5.946 meters X2.216 meters X2.233 meters, with a gross weight of 27.1 tons.

40 foot container: abbreviated as 40 foot container (40GP)

The external dimensions are 12.2M × 2.44M × 2.59M (40ft × 8ft × 8ft6in);

The content area is 11.8M × 2.13M × 2.18M.

This type of container is usually loaded with light foam cargo, and the gross weight of the cargo is generally not allowed to exceed 22 tons. It can accommodate a cargo volume of about 54 cubic meters

40 foot high container: abbreviated as 40 foot high container (40HQ)

The external dimensions are 12.2M × 2.44M × 2.9M (40ft × 8ft × 9ft6in);

The content area is 11.8M × 2.13M × 2.72M.

This type of container is also equipped with light foam cargo, and the gross weight of the cargo cannot exceed 22 tons. It can accommodate a cargo volume of approximately 68 cubic meters.

40 foot foldable platform cargo box: internal dimensions of 12.080 meters X2.126 meters X2.043 meters, with a gross weight of 29.2 tons.

45 foot high container: with a content area of 13.58 meters x 2.34 meters x 2.70 meters, the gross weight of the cargo is generally 29 tons, and the volume is 86 cubic meters
