Rutile Sand

Rutile is a common mineral in sandand one of the most important sources of titanium. The other important titanium-bearing mineral is ilmenite. Rutile has very simple chemical composition (TiO₂). Titanium dioxide is a very white, opaque substance. Because of its opaque and reflective properties it is used as a pigment in paints, plastics and paper. Titanium dioxide is also used in sunscreen because of its ability to reflect UV light. Rutile Sand is basic raw material used in Electrode Industries. Rutile Sands are available in Black and Brown color.

Uses: The main uses for Rutile sand are the manufacture of refractory ceramic, as a pigment, and for the production of titanium metal. It is used in paints, plastics, paper, foods, and other applications that call for a bright white color. Titanium metal is very strong and stable. It is used in spacecraft, guided missiles, jewellery, artificial joints and heart pacemakers.
