R type rivet, fan rivet, pop rivet (core striking rivet), tree rivet, half round head, flat head, semi hollow rivet, solid rivet, countersunk rivet, pop rivet and hollow rivet are commonly used. These are usually used to connect the riveted parts by self deformation. Generally, cold riveting is used for those smaller than 8mm, and hot riveting is used for those larger than this size. However, there are exceptions. For example, the nameplate on some locks is riveted by the interference between the rivet and the lock body hole.
