The type of media conditions that cause ammonia induced stress corrosion cracking on the vapor side of copper alloy cooling pipes is also the type of media conditions that cause condensate corrosion, which is limited to air cooling areas with high concentrations of oxygen and ammonia. At the same time, in the presence of oxygen, spherical condensate corrosion trenches will be formed on copper alloy pipes. When the tightness of the vacuum system is poor, the oxygen content in the steam side of the condenser increases, and the corrosion strength of oxygen in the condensed water is not inferior to that of ammonia.

Impact corrosion and abrasion of cooling tubes usually occur only on copper alloy tubes, which is a type of localized corrosion. This is due to the high intensity of flow turbulence on the metal surface at the corrosion site, which is sufficient to cause mechanical or electrochemical damage to the oxidation protective film. It has characteristics similar to pitting corrosion, and its shape evolution is often affected by local flow conditions, and is described as horseshoe shaped, crescent shaped, and groove shaped pitting corrosion.
